Most visitors spend between 3 and 5 days on Koh Chang – enough time to settle into a beach routine, fit in a day tour or two (like 4 or 5 Island snorkeling or the Ban Kwan Chang elephant camp), and still have downtime by the pool or on the sand. It also works well as a 2–3 night add-on to a Bangkok or Pattaya trip, since it’s reachable by private transfer without needing a flight.
Where you stay shapes the trip: Hat Sai Khao (White Sand Beach) is the liveliest strip with the most restaurants and shops, Kai Bae and Klong Prao are quieter and more family-friendly with a mix of resorts, and Lonely Beach draws a younger backpacker crowd with more nightlife. A package tour lets you pick the area that suits your group and have transfers and activities built around it.
November to April is the dry season and the most popular time to visit – calmer seas make island-hopping and snorkeling trips more reliable, and most resorts and restaurants are fully open. The rainy season from May to October is quieter and often cheaper, though some boat trips may be affected by weather on the day.
