Krabi City – Islands, Beaches & Limestone Cliffs on the Andaman Coast

Krabi is a province on southern Thailand’s Andaman coast, an almost otherworldly region of labyrinthine archipelagos, where islands seem to erupt vertically out of the sea and secluded beaches are only accessible by colourfully adorned long tail boats. Krabi’s myriad bays and coves have sheltered pirates, merchants and sea gypsies for thousands of years, and archaeological evidence indicates that Krabi was inhabited as early as 25,000–35,000 years ago.

Krabi’s attractions include hot springs, a wildlife sanctuary, sea caves, flourishing coral reefs, and limestone cliffs that draw rock climbing enthusiasts from around the world. Its national parks take in the island paradises of Koh Phi Phi and Koh Lanta – you could easily spend weeks in Krabi and leave yearning for more.

Krabi also features some of the most photogenic sunsets in Thailand. While tourists spread out among the beaches and islands, life goes on in Krabi Town, the sleepy provincial capital, where hilly riverside streets are lined with cosy cafés and an evening market serving authentic Thai cuisine. For most visitors, however, “town” means Ao Nang, a seaside strip of guesthouses, hotels, bars, restaurants and souvenir shops that is the main launching point for boat trips to nearby islands and to the isolated beaches of Railey Beach on Phra Nang Cape.

What is the difference between speed boat and long tail boat tours?

Speed boats cover more distance and reach the islands faster, so they suit tours like Krabi 7 Island or Phi Phi Island that involve longer crossings. Long tail boats are slower and more traditional, and are a cheaper option for the closer 4 Island and Hong Island tours.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking at least one day ahead so we can confirm your seat and arrange the pickup. During high season from November to March, popular boat trips can sell out, so booking two or three days ahead is safer.

Do you offer private tours instead of join-in group tours?

Yes. Every tour on this page can be arranged as a private tour with your own boat and guide. Private tours are ideal for families, small groups and travellers who prefer a flexible schedule.

How do I pay for my tour?

There is no cash payment. Full payment is required in advance, before your trip, by bank transfer. Our team will confirm the payment details with you by WhatsApp or email before your trip.
