Karon Viewpoint - One of the most frequented viewpoints in Phuket. From here, it is possible to take in views of Kata Noi, Kata Yai and Karon beaches. Located between Nai Harn and Kata Noi beaches, the viewpoint is busy most days of the year and is a staple of many tour itineraries. Called locally ‘Khao Saam Haad’ (Three Beaches Hill), the local municipality for some reason has officially renamed it ‘Karon Viewpoint’. It’s located just to the south of Kata Noi Beach and looks out directly out to the Andaman Sea, but most people have their cameras trained due north at the undeniably impressive eight-kilometer vista of the three west coast beaches with Mom Tri’s Villa Royale in the foreground and the distant Hilton Arcadia on Karon Beach in the background.
Promthep Cape at the very south of Phuket island seems to be an irresistible spot for a good old sunset photo. This landmark has always been a daily meeting point for hundred tourists, mostly Thai, to line up with a camera, facing west. Colorful buses unload hordes of tourists hungry for a sunset picture and the place starts buzzing with flashes.
The most important of the 29 Buddhist temples of Phuket is Wat Chalong or formally Wat Chaiyathararam located in the Chalong Subdistrict, Mueang Phuket. It is dedicated to two highly venerable monks, Luang Pho Chaem and Luang Pho Chuang who led the citizens of Chalong Subdistrict fighting against the Chinese rebellion in 1876 and with their knowledge of herbal medicine helped the injured. The large market at Wat Chalong extends into the grounds of the temple and features amplified pop music and Thai-fighting advertisements. The temple sells trinkets to visitors and the monks assist by storing boxes of items in their main prayer hall.
Rang Hill (Khao Rang) is found on the north side of Phuket Town and is a popular gathering place for locals in the evenings or at weekends and quite a lot of tours take a quick drive up here too. There are 3 different roads up to the top from the south and east sides of the hill. The main route starts on Mae Luan road next to the Rang Hill Dental Clinic. There's a big sign at the corner saying "Khao Rang". The road is shady and well kept. You pass a restaurant called “Phuket View” on the way up. And finally reach a parking area with a little park in the center at the top of the hill. It is walkable, though a hot walk of about a mile from the bottom. It's not one of Phuket's highest hills, the top is about 140m above sea level, compared to nearby Monkey Hill, about 270m high (the one with all the aerials on top) and Phuket's high point is well over 500m above sea level.
