A day in the embrace of nature! Located 36 miles from Chiang Mai is one of the most fertile troves of natural treasure in Chiang Mai, Doi Intanon National Park. The invigorating mountain air, the fresh, cool climate, makes it a rejuvenating break from the city.
Doi Intanon, 2,565 meters (8,415ft) above sea level - the highest peak in Thailand, is probably the most preserved in Thailand. It is extremely popular among bird watchers, with more than 383 species have been reported.
On this tour stops are made at: Wat Phrathad Chom Thong with its holy relic and ancient treasures, Wachiratharn Waterfall, the twin chedi - built by the Royal Thai Air Force to honor King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit, and the summit - containing the shrine of Chao Inthawitchayanon, the former prince of Chiang Mai. A short trek along Michael's Trail offers a beautiful and unforgettable experience. Lunch on this tour is served picnic style.
08:00 AM Lying south of Chiang Mai, the granite mass of Doi Inthanon, at 2,565 meters above sea level, is the highest mountain in the country. Doi Inthanon is the tail of Himalaya mountain range.Designated as a national park, the moist natural environment is a paradise for birds as it has almost 400 species, animals, flowers and fauna.
10:00 AM After a final steep climb, the summit is surprisingly flat though misty, cool and breezy. Visit the pagodas built in honor of their Majesties the King and Queen. The magnificent chedi completed in 1989 to honor the 60th birthday of King Bhumipol. A visitor's center contains information in Thai and English. A small chedi above the visitor's center contains the remains of Chao Inthawichayanon the last independent ruler of Chiangmai, who died in 1897, after which the Kingdom of Lanna was incorporated into Siam.
12:00 PM Lunch will provide at restaurant
13:00 PM Enjoy the cool cascading waters of Mae Klang or Vachiratharn waterfalls. Visit a Karen hill tribe village at Baan Sop Had.
15:30 PM Transfer back to Chiang Mai.
17:00 PM Arrive hotel in Chiang Mai City.
The following areas are considered out of area for pick up and drop off: Mae Rim area, Sa Moeng area, Hang Dong area, San Kampang area, Veranda High Resort and some others outside of the city center. We will suggest the hotel in the city center as a meeting point at the time of confirmation.
A request for pick up and drop off at an out of area hotel is possible at an extra charge of 700 Baht per transfer per way (not per person). For Hmong Lodge and Panviman Resort & Spa: extra charge 1,100 Baht per transfer per way. We will send separate payment link upon request.
